Gubbio is poetic and unforgettable. We will set out in search of the voices that once inhabited these mythical places, following stories and paths that climb and descend the mountains embracing the town.We begin at the Roman Theatre of Gubbio and from there make our way toward the Bottaccione Gorge, deeply carved by the Camignano stream, surrounded by majestic cliffs and the forests of Mount Foce (or Calvo) and Mount Ingino. Along the way, we will be able to admire the geological layers that gave rise to the story of the meteorite impact believed to have caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. Before beginning the climb toward the pass leading to Scheggia, we take the Medieval Aqueduct Trail, which leads us to the walls of Gubbio and then to the famous Path of the Ceri, the ancient route that climbs Mount Ingino to the Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo. After crossing the evocative cloister, we will enjoy the sight of the three magnificent wooden structures used during the Festa dei Ceri on May 15th. From there, passing through the Parco del Coppo, we reach the high-altitude meadows of Mount d'Ansciano before descending once again into the historic center. There, we will stroll through the medieval streets and stop at one of the town's ancient artisan shops to taste the cured meats and cheeses that have been expertly produced here for centuries.
